Joseph Boyer, Jr., MD, FACS is a board-certified thoracic and general surgeon who directs the AdventHealth Cancer Institute’s Thoracic Cancer Program and the AdventHealth Cardiovascular Institute’s Robotics and Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery Program. He is proficient in the use of advanced technologies, including video-assisted and robotic techniques, to provide highly delicate and minimally invasive surgeries within the heart and chest. His medical specialties include aortic valve replacement, mitral valve repair, off-pump and beating heart coronary artery surgery, endovascular aortic surgery, atrial fibrillation surgery and surgery to address esophageal cancers. An outstanding scholar and medical student, he is an honors graduate of both the University of Scranton and the SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, N.Y. and was a Chief Resident and Fellow in Cardiovascular/Thoracic Surgery at Loyola Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago.
